Avalanche buries cars in Colorado

Saturday, January 6, 2007 An avalanche on U.S. Route 40, which was 100 feet wide and 15 feet deep, has buried many cars, caused other cars to be pushed over the edge of an expressway, and injured eight people, just outside of Denver, Colorado. Monday, February 16, 2009 The United States Congress passed a US$787 billion stimulus package late Friday night, in an effort to curb the recession and boost the faltering US economy. US home sales fall at fastest pace on record

Monday, January 25, 2010 Sales of previously owned homes in the US fell at the fastest rate ever recorded last December, according to data from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). According to the association, existing home sales fell 16.7% last month, to an annual rate of 5.45 million, the largest crash since 1968. The figure was less than the 5.90 million units, or an eleven percent drop, predicted by most analysts. Iceland nationalises Kaupthing Bank

Thursday, October 9, 2008 Iceland's Financial Services Authority has nationalised the Kaupthing Bank as a response to the financial crisis which may result in a total collapse of the nation's economy. Kaupthing, together with Glitnir Bank and Landsbanki, owe a total of US$61 billion, which is twelve times the estimated size of the economy of the Nordic country. Race to save Chilean miners trapped underground from spiralling into depression continues

Thursday, September 2, 2010 It has emerged that the 33 Chilean miners trapped underground after the mine they were working in collapsed could be brought to the surface in a shorter time than was initially feared. Zimbabwe bans crop growing in urban areas

Thursday, June 23, 2005 Farming in urban areas has been banned in the latest turn in the Zimbabwean government's 'crackdown' on the country's poor.
