New Ghanaian currency introduced

Tuesday, July 3, 2007 New currency notes are being introduced in Ghana today. The new currency, to be called the Ghanaian cedi, replaces the previous cedi which has been in circulation since 17 February, 1967. The Ghanaian cedi will be exchanged at 10,000 old cedis to one new Ghanaian cedi. The exchange rate against the U.S. dollar starts at GH¢0.92 to one U.S. dollar. The new ISO code for the currency is GHS, and the new symbol, GH¢. Explosion, steam eruption near Grand Central Terminal in New York City

Wednesday, July 18, 2007 A pipe has burst in New York City, the largest city in the United States, causing a generator to explode. The explosion occurred in Midtown Manhattan near Grand Central Terminal (GCT) and the Chrysler Building, and approximately at the intersection of 41st Street and Lexington Avenue. Nearby buildings have been evacuated, and a large area has been blocked off. There are reports of a very large crater at the scene. Building collapses in Mecca at eve of Hajj pillgrimage

Thursday, January 5, 2006 A hostel collapsed in Mecca, the holy city of Islam at about 10 o'clock this morning local time. The building housed a number of pilgrims who came to visit the holy city at the eve of hajj pilgrimage. The hostel's guests were mostly citizens of the United Arab Emirates. The death toll is at least 15, a figure which is expected to rise. The building was situated very close to the holy mosque Masjid al Haram.

Abducted Richmond Hill, Ontario man walks into police station

Friday, November 3, 2006 A Richmond Hill, Ontario man is currently released after he was abducted and escaped last night. Chee Kian Jeff Chan, 28, was forced by three people into a black Mercedes SUV (which was caught on security camera) in the parking garage of his condominium at 23 Oneida Cresant in the Yonge Street and High Tech Road area. A small amount of blood was found at the scene. He was dropped off at an unnamed location in Toronto Wednesday night. Thursday, June 28, 2012 In a decision today, the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the controversial healthcare law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, passed in 2010.
