US ‘Black Friday’ shoppers gather hours, even days before some stores’ openings

French workers use threats in compensation demand

Friday, July 17, 2009Following similar threats by workers at New Fabris and Nortel, workers at JLG in Tonneins, France, threatened to blow up several platform cranes. The JLG factory announced in April 2009 that it will fire 53 of its 163 workers by the end of 2009, while the remaining 110 jobs will not be secure over the next 2 years. Qatari leader visits Gaza

Friday, October 26, 2012 The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, has become the first Arab leader to visit the Gaza Strip since its occupation by Israel in 1967. He entered the strip by car from Egypt, to an enthusiastic welcome by Gazans. The Qatari leader pledged $400 million for construction projects. Police remove valuables from unlocked cars

Thursday, August 27, 2009 Police officers in Richmond in south-west London, England are removing valuable items like handbags and laptops from unlocked vehicles and leaving notes telling owners to collect their items in Twickenham police station in a bid to try and encourage car drivers to lock the doors of their vehicles. Woman finds human finger in bowl of chili at Wendy’s restaurant

Thursday, March 24, 2005 San Jose, California — A woman eating a bowl of chili at a Wendy's restaurant bit into a chewy bit that turned out to be a human finger. She immediately spat it out, warned other patrons to stop eating, and upon recognizing the object as a finger, vomited. At least seven dead after bomb blast in Northwestern Pakistan

Wednesday, February 3, 2010 According to reports, at least eight people, including three United States military personnel and four schoolgirls, were killed earlier today by a roadside bomb near a girls' school in north-western Pakistan.
