    Several large explosions reported in Xinjiang, China

    Sunday, August 10, 2008 Authorities say that "violent terrorists" attempted to blow up sites in the Xinjiang province of the country. Police say at least 11 people were killed, all except one were reported to be the attackers responsible for the blasts. Police say three more were arrested and another three are "still at large."     U.S. teens generally reducing risky behavior says CDC

    Wednesday, June 11, 2008 On June 4, a report published by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that in the past 16 years high school students have become less likely to engage in health risk-related behaviors such as having sex and taking drugs. However, the CDC found that Hispanic students were less likely to have reduced risky behavior when compared to Black and White students in several key areas.     Thursday, March 27, 2008 Today, Aníbal Acevedo Vilá, the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, was indicted with 19 counts related to irregularities found in the financing of his campaigns for public offices on and off the island. Puerto Rico is a semi-autonomous territory of the United States.     China completes “mammoth” Three Gorges Dam hydro-electricity project

    Saturday, May 20, 2006 The People's Republic of China has announced the completion of an enormous dam across the Yangtze River, an important milestone for the world's largest hydroelectric project.     UK mounts rescue operation for Spanish trawler in distress in North Atlantic storm

    Wednesday, January 12, 2005 This afternoon the RAF launched an operation to rescue nineteen sailors from a Spanish trawler in difficulties in a North Atlantic storm.
