The soldiers of The United States need and deserve the best health care available. The U.S. Army Medical Command, known as MEDCOM, is a steadfast presence that not only helps ready members of the U.S. Military for deployment, but is also a life-saving presence in the midst of battle, as well as serving to eliminate additional worry by tending to loved ones at home. With a realized goal of exemplary health care for military members and their families, MEDCOM’s highly skilled professionals inspire confidence as they tirelessly devote themselves and their superior resources as part of the effort to protect our country.

MEDCOM takes a proactive approach in all branches of health care including general medicine and dental care, as well as veterinary and other health care services in varied health facilities. Proactive, over reactive, treatment is a sensible, efficient, and economical approach, as it anticipates and tries to eliminate the possibility of more harmful, time-consuming, and costly health issues. The command is dedicated to the well being of all those connected to the military in times of peace and crisis. When there is a need, 26% of doctors and 43% of nurses, deployed to active duty in the field are from MEDCOM.

MEDCOM is comprised of five regional commands strategically located around the world. Each of these regional commands has medical facilities from which they supply superior care. The five commands are:

Europe Regional Medical Command (ERMC) – The U.S. Army Europe, U.S. European Command, and U.S. Central Command are the responsibilities of ERMC. This encompasses soldiers serving in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Africa. There are forty medical facilities in Germany, Belgium, and Italy in which U.S. Military personnel and their families can receive the same caliber of medical care they expect in the continental United States.

Southern Regional Medical Command (SRMC) – The SRMC is found in Fort Sam Houston, located in San Antonio, Texas. The fort has been dubbed “the home of Army medicine.” It is by far the most extensive army medical region, serving eleven states as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Northern Regional Medical Command (NRMC) – The NRMC has sixteen facilities for medical care in the northeastern U.S. The region encompassed by the command runs from Massachusetts to Wisconsin to South Carolina. The command aspires to lead the country by providing superior medical care to the military community in a dependable and trustworthy manner.

Pacific Regional Medical Command (PRMC) – This command oversees half of the globe, from the Western Unites States to Western India and from the Antarctic to the Arctic. The military in thirty-two countries relies on the PRMC for their health care needs.

Subordinate Commands – These fall under the jurisdiction of MEDCOM, also. They are The U.S. Army Public Health Command (USAPHC), the Army Medical Department Center School (AMEDDC&S), the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command, the Warrior Transition Command, and the U.S. Army Dental Command (DENCOM).
